Privacy policy
The short version: you can use this site without telling us who you are. We only collect personal details when you send us a form, and we use them only to reply.
Who we are
Kangaroo Home Brew (kangaroohomebrew.com.au) is an Australian information website: a directory of homebrew shops and a comparison of online prices. In this policy "we" and "us" means Kangaroo Home Brew. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
No accounts
There are no user accounts, logins or newsletters. You can search shops and compare prices without giving us any personal details.
What we collect through our forms
We collect personal information only when you choose to send us one of these forms:
- Claim or upgrade a listing: your name, email address, phone number (optional), your role at the shop, which shop, your billing preference and any message.
- Contact: your name, email address, the shop it's about (optional) and your message.
We use these details only to reply to you and, for a listing claim, to set up or change that listing. We don't sell them, share them for marketing, or add you to a mailing list.
Both forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check. To run it, Cloudflare processes information about your browser and device, and your IP address is passed to it with your submission.
Where your details are kept
The site runs on Cloudflare. Form submissions are stored in a Cloudflare database and a copy is emailed to us through Cloudflare's email service. Cloudflare may process this information outside Australia. We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to reply and to manage listings, and you can ask us to delete yours.
What our host sees when you visit
Like any website host, Cloudflare receives standard request information when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this site.
Your location stays in your browser
If you press "Use my location", your browser asks your permission and gives the location to the page. It is used in your browser to sort shops by distance and is kept only for that browser tab's session. It is not sent to us. If you search by postcode or suburb instead, what you typed appears in the page address, like any search.
Maps
Shop maps load map tiles from OpenStreetMap's servers. Your browser requests the tiles for the area you are viewing, so OpenStreetMap receives your IP address and can tell which area the map shows. Its privacy policy applies to those requests.
Links to stores and shops
Links to retailers and shop websites take you off this site. Their own privacy policies apply there. Some store links go through an affiliate network so the store can tell the visit came from us, and that network or the store may set cookies on their sites. See our affiliate disclosure.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us and we'll respond. If you have a privacy concern, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page.
